Attached are a few photos from our recent holiday to the wonderful Royal Reserve Safari and Beach Club in Kenya. The one photo is of our return back to the hotel after a fantastic 5-day safari to Tsavo East and West, Amboseli and Salt Lick, which was at the beginning of our holiday.

Our guide/ driver, Julias (pictured) was absolutely outstanding in every way. We couldn't have wished for a better one.

On our return, we spent 9 days at the resort, which was fantastic. All the hotel staff were very friendly and will do anything for you. I have to mention the pool, which was fantastic, as we spent hours in it and very often came out all wrinkly. The rooms were huge (we stayed in a 2-bed) and although they didn't have all the 'mod cons' they had all the necessary amenities and were clean. The maids came in every day. To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything more in a third world country.

One restaurant on site serves very good food. We either ate lunch at midday or some days ate there in the evening for dinner. Other times we cooked in our room with food bought from the local onsite shop or the Nakumatt Supermarket/ shopping complex which is a few miles away. There is a free bus service there every Wednesday, but it’s worth asking your driver on the return from any trips to call in there for you.

Overall we had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back there. We recommend it to any CLC members who have not yet been.

You wanted feedback from our cruise on Norwegian Gem – all I can say is that it was wonderful. The ship is so well fitted out and has every possible thing that you could want on board, that we stayed on board sometimes instead of going ashore. Everyone was so friendly and nice and also the fit out was brand new. The ship was only 3 weeks old when we took our cruise. Restaurants were very good, but the specialty restaurants were even better.

We shall be saving our pennies and our points and hoping that we can go again sometime. We spoke to the Cruise Director and he seemed to think that the arrangement they have with Club La Costa would continue, but popular as this ship will become, it remains to be seen. If it does, we shall surely cruise with NCL again.

Thanks for all your help in getting us there.

Cheers

Rest and Recuperation

My husband is a serving officer in the British Army, hence we are always ‘on the move’. Earlier this year, whilst Paul was on exercise and training in preparation for a forthcoming tour to Iraq, it was left to me to pack up our married quarter and move from the south to the north of England to start a new tour in York. Paul deployed to Iraq in early May and left our 10-year-old daughter and me to ‘fend for ourselves’.

After a few weeks of ‘settling in’, Amy at her new school and me in a new job, the school holidays approached. I contacted Central Reservations at Club La Costa and asked what availability they had for a week’s ‘getaway’ for Amy and myself. I cannot praise the Team enough – their time and patience was absolutely fabulous, searching the database for a suitable location with very short notice. They came up with a lovely apartment at Benal Beach on the Costa del Sol, which more than satisfied our needs, giving us the opportunity to spend some quality time together.

In August I again contacted Central Reservations. I explained that my husband was due home on leave from Iraq for two weeks and we were looking for somewhere to totally relax and give him the time to rest after a very busy 3-month period in Basra. The Reservations Team were OUTSTANDING! They worked tirelessly finding us a location that would give us the amenities that would enable Paul, me and our daughter to get away and enjoy some quality ‘family’ time after a hectic first 6 months of the year. The Club La Costa Travel Club were also extremely helpful, sorting out flights and transfers to/from the airport, which was fantastic.

I cannot praise the staff at Club La Costa at Monterey in Tenerife enough. From the reception staff to the waiters in the Sunset/Sunrise Restaurants down to the maid service – everything was just perfect. I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody within Club La Costa for making our holiday in Benal Beach, but particularly Monterey truly restful and happy, which was very much what Paul, me and Amy needed. Paul is now back in Iraq, but we eagerly await his return in December and very much look forward to browsing the Club La Costa brochures and planning our holidays in the near future.

Yours faithfully

I would just like to tell you how much my family and I enjoyed our first foreign holiday with CLC.

I had been a bit nervous about our holiday; our kids (14 and 11 years old) had never been abroad before and we were unsure what the resort would be like. As we were late booking up for Costa del Sol, we did not get a chance to choose which accommodation we were staying in. It was great being met at the airport and being taken straight to our resort. Our luggage was seen to by two members of staff whilst we checked in. Once we had our keys, the same staff took us and our luggage to our apartment.

We were really happy with the accommodation. There was milk, water, orange juice, bread, butter, jam and eggs all ready for us in the fridge. Everything had been thought of so that we would not have to go out shopping straight away. There was even some washing up liquid for us too. I was really impressed, as I had not expected all of this. We were told that our apartment was the basic one – it certainly did not seem basic compared to places my husband and I had stayed before we had our family.

We had a great night when we went to El Rancho for our arrival meeting. After the meeting had ended we stayed there to have a meal – which we all enjoyed. During the meal and for the rest of the evening there was entertainment. First of all, there were 2 singers then after that there was a Magic Show. The magician included the children in the audience all the time, from pulling lights from their ears, hair etc., to having them up on stage helping. Our 11-year-old son got invited up on stage and had a really great time as the attached pictures show.

Later in the week we had a meeting with Steve McGavin, our CLC rep. He was really great. Not only did he make us feel welcome; he also made sure he included our children in the discussions. He took us for a delicious breakfast near the marina. There he told the kids to keep some bread so that they could feed the fish afterwards. As our son likes fishing he really enjoyed this. Steve also showed us around the area, telling us about places of interest and other things that he thought we would like. He was very easy to talk to and made our tour very enjoyable. The part that my teenage daughter liked was when he took us to the shopping centre, as we did not know where it was. He gave us a quick tour of it before going back to the resort. He showed us some really great accommodation, and told us about the plans to make the resort even better in the future. We had a really enjoyable time with him.

Up until then we had not decided where to go next year for our summer vacation, but with all the information Steve gave us, and what he showed us, we have decided that we definitely will be going back to the Costa del Sol.

We had a great holiday and both my husband and I and our children really look forward to next year's holidays and all future holidays with CLC.

P.S. Steve is a great asset to your company.
