Hustyns is Heaven

My wife and I checked into Hustyns on Friday 13th March but, have no fear, we are having a marvellous time so far! The weather continues to be excellent and is set to last until next Sunday. Unfortunately we have to leave on Friday morning!

The resort is beautifully situated and the landscaped grounds are delightful. Needless to say the standards of accommodation, housekeeping and customer services are extremely high.

I would also add that this is an excellent centre for sight-seeing, with most attractions being within less than 45 minutes’ drive. For instance this morning I cycled the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow and back - the views of the estuary were simply stunning. Then for real panoramic excitement we visited Bedruthan Steps, even managing the steep descent/ascent to the glorious beaches and rocky outcrops.

We have been so busy exploring the surrounding beautiful countryside (Padstow, Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle, to name but a few) that we have so far not sampled the Brasserie or restaurant; but we feel sure that these too will be excellent.

We will definitely be back to savour Hustyns' delights next year. We may also revisit Trenython Manor to see how much Club La Costa have stamped their mark of quality on this resort since we last visited five years ago.

We have just been relaxing our aching muscles in your excellent health spa before treating ourselves to curry in the Brasserie.

Does life get better than this? If you are thinking of visiting Hustyns, do it - you will not be disappointed!

Keep up the good work CLC! (And can you please guarantee the beautiful spring-like weather we have had so far).

Regards

Dear CLC,

You may have noticed that we have not had a holiday abroad through our membership this year; nor did we take up a free week we could have had for adding to our membership this time last year.

The reason we could not travel abroad was nothing to do with you guys but was due to the fact that, after years of trying, my wife and I managed to start a family this year.

The whole year was difficult – we even had to give up a dream trip on the CLC Yacht Club catamarans due to my wife’s pregnancy and I would like to add our thanks to CLC for transferring that proposed week to Hustyns on our behalf.

However, we have been rewarded with fantastic twin boys, Nathan and Connor, who were born on the 6th November and are both currently doing fine. We are already looking forward to being able to take them on holiday when they are a little older and stronger.

This makes our investment in CLC seem all the more beneficial to us as we anticipate many great family holidays in the fantastic accommodation that we have experienced on four or five occasions in the couple of years that we have been members.

Keep up the good work and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. It certainly will be for us.

Regards,
Tony & Kaira Bowles.

Hustyns Holiday

We recently spent a four-day break at Hustyns and though we only live a short distance away, in Torbay in Devon, we have not been to Cornwall for a holiday for some 30 years.

When we booked, we told Reception that we would be late checking in, at around 9.30.pm, and asked for information as to the restaurant times at Hustyns. To our great surprise, we were told that last orders were 10.00pm, which suited us very well as we know from experience in the West Country that pubs and restaurants tend to close at 9.00pm.

After a somewhat tortuous journey - the A38 at Dobwalls was completely closed and there were hardly any diversion signs (thank goodness for sat nav on this occasion) - we arrived just before 10.00 pm. On arrival, Reception immediately phoned down to the kitchen to make sure that we could indeed get a meal, and we were in the bar/bistro with a drink and a very tasty plate of fresh cooked fish and chips, all before we had signed in.

Once again, we were pleasantly surprised to discover our room in the Hotel was so very spacious with an excellent bathroom and an outside deck, which was a bonus as we had two lovely sunny days and we were able to sit out and enjoy the mornings. Tuesday was spent enjoying a walk around the complex, visiting the vegetable garden and talking to the staff who are obviously very keen that residents should be able to eat Hustyns own produce. We then had a game of tennis and I was able to take advantage of some laser clay shooting.

In the evening, we went to the Jazz Restaurant for a meal. We have to say that it was a delight to be attended to by thoughtful and polite staff for whom nothing was too much trouble and, together with the entertainment, made for an evening to be remembered for a long time.

On the Wednesday, having been introduced to ICE by the team and deciding it was not for us as my wife is not keen on boats in general, we decided to take advantage of the free bikes on offer and cycled (mostly) into Wadebridge down the Camel trail. Having not ridden a bike for some 30-plus years, it was with some trepidation and a lot of hilarity that we started off. What made this ride such a joy was that we were mostly on trails through timber stands and forestation and not on roads - it really was so enjoyable and even better was the thought that, if we wished, we could be picked up in Wadebridge by the courtesy bus. Arriving back in the evening, we once again decided to visit the excellent leisure facilities to relieve our aching limbs and then spent a relaxing evening in the Bistro.

On Thursday, having breakfasted (again!) in the Bistro, we decided to take a scenic drive around the area and also decided that, as we were in the area, we would visit Trenython Manor to check out its facilities with a view to staying there later in the year.

The staff there could not have been more helpful and, after a welcome cup of tea, we were shown around one of the new lodges which, as usual, and in line with CLC's policy of maintaining very high standards and specifications, exceeded our expectations. On our return in the evening, we were once again in the Jazz Restaurant for a Taste of Cornwall which we thoroughly enjoyed. With such a good standard of service, as well as the food and drink on offer, it means that you don't have to go off site and all that is necessary for a short break is provided.

Would you please pass on our thanks to all the staff at Hustyns for making our short holiday such a memorable one and we hope to be back in the Autumn, either at Hustyns or Trenython.

25th February, 2009

Please would it be possible to pass on a thank you from my husband and I to the splendid team at Club La Costa, Sunningdale Village in Tenerife. We stayed there at Christmas and had a marvellous time. My husband is a Food Production Manager and I am an Events Co-ordinator, so we do know the hospitality business very well!

I cannot express well enough how good the service was that we received and in particular would like to thank Jerome, the Manager at Reception and Phillipe, the Restaurant Manager.

I will be sharing this message with friends and colleagues and recommending your resort.

Best wishes,
J Keene

Feedback on Hotel Nights Bookings - Melanie Simon Ruiz

Melanie has helped me with all my ‘Hotel Nights’ bookings to various places over the past year and a half. I always feel like she gives a personal touch and is always happy to help. Even when I might change my mind on places to go or ask for her to search for more hotels, Melanie takes the time to meet my request and finds what I want, if not better than I expected.

You don't find many people these days that have great customer service skills - Melanie is one of them, a great asset to CLC. It makes you feel like you really have received the level of service you pay for.

Best regards

Hustyns

Hello,

We had a great weekend break early in September at Hustyns.

My daughter Kay, son-in-law Phil and one-year-old Lola came with us. What a great place for families - it was so peaceful, set in such a lovely part of Cornwall.

We really appreciated the welcome pack after a long journey from the Midlands. We made the most of our short break, swimming every day, watching the fish and the ducks being fed and playing tennis. Lola loved the park and the play-sand. We shared baby sitting and really enjoyed eating out. Kay and Phil loved the Saturday night barbecue.

Thank you Club La Costa for a great break.
